The new paradigm of developing project managers goes beyond the typical three day training program.

Project managers develop not in abstract training programs but through challenging experiences.

Our facilitated approach starts your team working on their projects by providing them with specific assignments, tools, and team problem-solving activities.

Our approach works with your entire project team not just the project managers because project leadership is not something you do to your team but with them.

Is this you?

You're sick of "flavor of the month" programs and are tired of the hype about project management solving your problems?

You want to improve your approach to doing projects but you don't have the time or the people to take three days away from the business for training?

You have tried training and it didn't help?

You tried to implement a project management methodology in the past but it just didn't work?

Why project management methodologies don't work and why we are different from every other group you will discover.

Implementing a fancy new methodology simply does not work. The evidence is overwhelming. Consider the implementation of EPM, TQM, Teams, and dozens of other methodologies that have failed and continue to fail. Why? Because it takes more than a software package or a bunch of consultants to change your business.

Change occurs because people change their behavior. It can happen in no other way. The implementation of any methodology is doomed to fail unless behavior change is part of the solution. Organizations don't do project management, people do. Software does not meet schedules, people do. Teams don't change, people do.

The methodology is important, but not as important as the behaviors of your team. It doesn't matter if you have the brightest consultants, if your people don't change their behavior your projects will continue to be late, over budget, and suffer from excessive quality problems. This results in disgruntled employee's, customers, and shareholders. It causes profits to shrink and investments to be squandered.

No Limits Leadership focuses on the behaviors of the team and leadership to cause excellence in project management execution.

Our Three-Part Solution

Unique Delivery + Simple Project Methodology + Behavioral Change = Effective Project Management

Unique Delivery:

The facilitated work session. Working with a coach your team is able to learn a little, practice a little, learn a little, and practice a little more. Instead of three days and "good luck," it's a few hours and let's do it together on an actual project. Then let's meet and do it again, and again, and again.

If you wanted to become a professional golfer you would not take a three-day course on golf and then join a tournament. It doesn't work in sports and doesn't work in business.

For effective performance you need to learn the basics, practice the basics, and be coached on your actual performance. Training programs teach you the basics and then leaves it up to you to execute. Consultants do it for you and then leave it up to you to duplicate. Coaching offers the greatest behavior change but takes too long by itself. To succeed requires all three elements.

Our facilitated work sessions train you on the basics, then has you perform them on your actual projects while providing feedback. Last of all, we provide weekly (or more often) coaching sessions offering you real-time feedback on your performance.

When you work with us you will receive a pre-session packet that prepares you, your team, and your project, for our unique approach. We examine your reward structure to ensure it is aligned with the new, required, behaviors. Then we meet with your team and facilitate actual project performance.

Simple Project Methodology:

We provide you our ProjectBall System, a comprehensive, yet simple, approach to project management that allows you to focus on leadership behaviors not paperwork. Included is all the templates, quality checklists, action steps, and tips to make execution easy. ProjectBall uses the metaphor of baseball to make the entire system easy to understand and remember.

We have decomposed projects and the development of its deliverables into four distinct phases; What, How, Do, and Use. Experience shows every project goes through these phases. In addition, each deliverable within the project moves through these phases as well. By understanding what to do, how to do it, who should do it, and the standards for performance for each phase, your team will never be lost.

ProjectBall includes clearly defined roles and role expectations. Research shows that when you have clearly defined, well-communicated expectations, you will be happier and more successful than people whose expectations go unspoken or unrealized. Our clearly defined roles include Executive, Project Manager, Resource Manager, and Resource. However, one person could hold one or more these roles.

Part of our role expectation includes performing a DiSC analysis and developing a Team Profile (example Team Member Profile and Team Group Profile). Projects require different types of people for different phases. It's a common assumption (myth) that one person can or should lead all parts of a project. In ProjectBall we aspire to match the work to the right leadership style.

If you already have your own methodology we will incorporate it into our approach ensuring your team's understanding. We also provide feedback on your system, forms, templates, and methods.

We are not out to sell you our methodology, we aim to help you improve results.

Behavioral Change:

To change results you must change behavior. Most managers focus solely on results. However, focusing on results is reactive and inefficient. Because results are the byproduct of behavior, by the time you have the result, the behavior is gone. We focus on changing behavior, not people. To change performance you must understand the behaviors that create desired results.

Do you write memo's to get your team to act? Do you cajole, yell, demand, and hang posters? Have you discovered these tactics don't work? You tell your team they must report progress on Friday's and some do, some don't. Then you make it a written policy to force everyone to comply. They do it, temporarily, but soon you find they are slipping. Why? Why does the behavior not stick? Because the consequences, positive or negative, are not reinforcing the desired behavior.

ProjectBall focuses on people's behavior to achieve desired results. Instituting a methodology will not work by itself. This is merely an antecedent that may get people to follow it once, but if positive consequences don't soon follow your team will will discontinue it's use no matter how demanding you become.

Consider your leadership style. How do you treat new team members? Do you provide plenty of direction? Do you give them a lot of support? How about experienced team members? Do you believe that everyone should be treated the same? This is a common leadership mistake. Your team progresses through four stages of needs while moving from beginner to mastery. Each stage requires different amounts of directive or supportive behaviors from you, the leader. In ProjectBall we focus on applying the appropriate leadership style based on the individual and the situation.

The Result

Project's are done better, faster, and cheaper while enhancing and working to people's strengths. Client's and executives no longer are concerned about increased risk and learning from mistakes. Project leaders can accept more complicated projects knowing they are never alone and there is always a lifeline to call upon.

For the past 20 years we have been studying, researching, testing, and proving, what works and what doesn't while leading projects. We have created a full system you can plug into your business quickly, without risk, and improve your business.

Three ways to work with us

Option #1: Single Work Session.
This option involves presenting the entire project work session over several concurrent days. Participants will be provided with field assignments to be completed before attending the session. This is the most economical option. This option works well whether your team is co-located or working at a distance, on the same project or working several different project.

Option #2: One work session and a series of working lunches.
This option begins with a half or full day work session followed by weekly work sessions at regularly scheduled times. Some sessions will take 1-2 hours while others may take 3-4 hours. This option allows your team to perform work in the mornings and afternoons and receive direction and coaching at regular intervals. You still receive nearly unlimited support by email, fax, phone, and web conferencing. This option works well when your team is working on different projects.

Option #3: Working Sessions Paced to Match the Project.
This option works best when participants are involved in trying to set up and manage the same project or when they are working on a series of subprojects that fit together into a single, larger, project. This option begins with a half day introduction where participants will be given their field assignments. The next meeting is held when the team has completed the field assignments. Each work session is paced to the actual project.
